Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a public letter outlining an ambitious vision to develop what he terms “personal superintelligence,” an advanced form of artificial intelligence that could surpass human cognitive capabilities and assist individuals in achieving personal goals. Zuckerberg argued that recent AI progress—including systems that show early signs of self-improvement—brings this goal within reach, and he distinguished Meta’s approach from rivals by emphasizing individual empowerment rather than workforce automation. To support this strategy, Meta has poured billions into AI infrastructure, recruited top industry talent, and created Meta Superintelligence Labs, led by figures like former Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang. Zuckerberg acknowledged the significant safety and ethical challenges ahead and said Meta would be cautious about open-sourcing future innovations. The announcement came ahead of Meta’s quarterly earnings, which beat expectations and helped justify the company’s heavy AI spending.
